Ainsley has also moved to her new crib, in her own room. It's a big transition and my beloved nights of predictable sleep disappeared. She would still sleep at night (except for one notable exception), but was waking up way more often, every 1-2 hours some nights. There were a couple mornings I told Clem that I had spent more time in the rocking chair than in my bed. We did what we could to make the transition easier but it just needed time. After a week and a half, the past two nights have started to show some improvement and I am hoping this means the worst is over. Ainsley did nap a bit more with the disrupted nights, but it's still a struggle to be able to put her down to nap at all, or for more than 5-10 minutes. I'd love to figure out how to help her sleep during the day.
I don't want to complain, but I do want to portray a realistic picture on the blog, so let me tell you how things got worse before they got better. On Wednesday I was so tired from over a week of rough nights that I said I was more exhausted than I had been since Ainsley was a couple days old, and I wasn't sure how I'd keep functioning. That night was the one Ainsley had trouble getting settled and getting any sleep - by far the worst night to date. On Thursday, I was so exhausted I felt sick and was constantly shivering. By the afternoon I realized my shivering was getting worse and it wasn't just exhaustion. I took my temperature (nearly 39 degrees) and put the pieces of some other symptoms together and realized I had mastitis, an infection that causes fever, weakness and feeling flu-like. It was a bad day to say the least. Thankfully my Mom was able to come over the next day and take Ainsley for a few hours while I got some badly needed sleep - 3 glorious uninterrupted hours! Things definitely started to look up after that.
I'm afraid I don't have any pictures of Ainsley in her crib yet, and she's just gone down to sleep there so I won't be taking any just now! But here are some other recent pictures of our little (but much bigger!) girl. When she's rested, she really is a happy baby and such a joy to be around. We think she's pretty cute :)
