Ainsley, Ainsley, Ainsley!

Ainsley seems to be getting bigger by the day, and is starting to grow out of some 0-3 month clothes and fitting into some of her 3-6 month items.  It's a bit hard to believe that these clothes no longer fit and need to be packed up!!  She really is getting bigger, though, and I can see it in so many ways.  Her feet stick out over the edge of the seat in her swing.  She's able to kick and flail her arms with so much more force that we get significantly more wet when giving her a bath!  And she's always becoming more and more alert.  She's been smiling for some time now, and it's starting to seem like she's learning to laugh.  It won't be long!

Ainsley has also moved to her new crib, in her own room.  It's a big transition and my beloved nights of predictable sleep disappeared.  She would still sleep at night (except for one notable exception), but was waking up way more often, every 1-2 hours some nights.  There were a couple mornings I told Clem that I had spent more time in the rocking chair than in my bed.  We did what we could to make the transition easier but it just needed time.  After a week and a half, the past two nights have started to show some improvement and I am hoping this means the worst is over.  Ainsley did nap a bit more with the disrupted nights, but it's still a struggle to be able to put her down to nap at all, or for more than 5-10 minutes.  I'd love to figure out how to help her sleep during the day.

I don't want to complain, but I do want to portray a realistic picture on the blog, so let me tell you how things got worse before they got better.  On Wednesday I was so tired from over a week of rough nights that I said I was more exhausted than I had been since Ainsley was a couple days old, and I wasn't sure how I'd keep functioning.  That night was the one Ainsley had trouble getting settled and getting any sleep - by far the worst night to date.  On Thursday, I was so exhausted I felt sick and was constantly shivering.  By the afternoon I realized my shivering was getting worse and it wasn't just exhaustion.  I took my temperature (nearly 39 degrees) and put the pieces of some other symptoms together and realized I had mastitis, an infection that causes fever, weakness and feeling flu-like.  It was a bad day to say the least.  Thankfully my Mom was able to come over the next day and take Ainsley for a few hours while I got some badly needed sleep - 3 glorious uninterrupted hours!  Things definitely started to look up after that.

I'm afraid I don't have any pictures of Ainsley in her crib yet, and she's just gone down to sleep there so I won't be taking any just now!  But here are some other recent pictures of our little (but much bigger!) girl.  When she's rested, she really is a happy baby and such a joy to be around.  We think she's pretty cute :)

Everyday Ainsley

I try to send Clem a picture of Ainsley every day when he's at work.  Here are some of my favourites, starting as early as January 12 and going up February 12.  (There are more recent ones you'll see later on as they are still on my phone!)
